Hi, I’m Sutton.
I’ve done every layer of Solutions Engineering, from founding the function from scratch to leading it across different industries. What actually keeps me curious now is timing. It’s less about how something works and more about knowing when to make the right move, and pairing the right processes with the right people so the engine actually holds up as a company grows.
I’m based in Austin, TX, and I’ve spent my career sitting at the intersection of Engineering, Product, and Sales. I’ve supported the entire pre and post-sales cycle, from the first technical discovery call through implementation and renewal, on both sides of the deal. My industry exposure spans Tech and SaaS solutions, Manufacturing and Supply Chain, Fintech, Mass Communications and Threat Intelligence, and Semiconductor environments, through roles at Samsung Semiconductor, Atlassian, LeanDNA, Affirm, and AlertMedia.
What keeps me in this work is the same thing that shows up in the rest of my life. I like figuring out how systems, organizations, and industries really function, not just the pitch-deck version. But just as much, I care about people. Reading someone accurately, understanding where they actually fit, and knowing how to put them in a position to succeed is often the difference between an SE team that just exists and one that actually propels a company forward.
I started Velocity SE Advisory because I’ve seen firsthand what a high functioning SE org can do for a company, and what happens when that function is missing or underbuilt. My own experience spans SE orgs from Series A through Series D companies, all the way to global public companies. I like being the person who builds that, especially for companies early enough to still be figuring it out.
